I've used this funeral home 2 other times in the past 10 years when my parents died and I was happy with the service until a close relative past away in December and I used Davis Funeral Home except this time it was different. I paid for the funeral upfront because I was unaware that my relative that I was having the funeral for had any insurance. When I found out that there was a small amount that could go towards the funeral that I had already paid for I call Bob Davis and explained that he would be receiving a check from Allstate and since I had already paid he could issue me a credit back to my credit card. He first told me that any money that goes into his account is taxed and he would have to charge me a 18% percent fee. I told him that's not correct and that he would need to talk to his accountant. After a few minutes he told to not worry about it and we would work it out.
A week later when he received the check his office called to say that I could pickup the check, but I had found out a few days before hand that the check was going to be for 5k instead of the $2500 that Allstate had told me, so asked his office how much was it for because it was supposed to be for 5k. They told me it was for $2800 and I asked "where's the rest"? I was told to call Bob Davis which when I did he told me that he had received 2 checks and he was waiting for it to clear. The checks were received on the same day so why did he write a check for the first one so fast and now he won't write one for the second one.
Another week later, on Monday, I called to see if it had cleared and said that since it was the weekend the bank wouldn't know if it had cleared. That doesn't make any sense so I said I'll call tomorrow thinking he's trying to keep the money. Long story short my wife goes to pickup the check on Wednesday and he gives her 2 checks less $150 saying that he has to charge a fee. He was telling my wife one thing and telling me another as if we don't speak to each other knowing full well that he was lying. He likes to say that he's the good guy in the funeral business, but this proves otherwise.
