Gumby's Pizza

Actually 3.5 stars. Flavor is good. Pizza toppings are kind of light compared to some of the chains. Have had pizza here after a few trips and unfortunately their ratings seem to go down on my orders in the last year. Pizza sauce is good. Pizza thickness is basically "thin" or "mega thin" with no thick crust or pan option. Toppings seem fresh but lacking for the price. Best things WERE the pep pizza rolls which use to be BIG but the last order they were about 1/2 the size. Their dough is kneaded too much making it very tough. That also happened to the little pep rolls last time is that the dough was kneaded too much and very tough (same with their pizza bones). Any pep roll dipping sauce is extra. They also will not let you combine your rewards with their specials even if you order other things at regular price. After $100, you get get $10 worth of rewards but again you cannot use it if ANY of your order contains their "specials". I think they should let you you use the rewards on any item being a special or regular priced items since you earned them. Only real good part is that their open LATE night ~3am.

What a disappointing change in recipe/store. Used to be one of the best pizza places in San Marcos.. changed stores and now has to be one of the worst with their new recipe. Pizza is thin and way too greasy. The toppings used to be blended in with the cheese, which was the best part of their style of pizza. From a once loyal customer... do everybody a favor and go back to the original style of your pizza. I would legitimately eat a Sunny's 5$ pizza before eating here again now.

I’m not sure how I feel about the new Gumby’s. The building and interior is a definite improvement. However, it’s kinda unfinished. They planned to have a bar, but don’t have a liquor license, so there’s just a long counter on one wall. Gumby’s also got rid of their lunch buffet. I used to enjoy the quick stop off campus for lunch. That won’t happen anymore. I feel like they are trying to switch their clientele, and those Gumby’s regulars don’t fit the new mold. All that being said, the pizza is still delicious, when ordered fresh. Their by-the-slice method is questionable because there’s no telling how long the pizza has sat out. I only say that because other places have a higher traffic so the rotation is faster.
